Ms. Sanjukta Gupta

Ms. Sanjukta Gupta has a B.A., L.L.B., and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Law. She has been empanelled as a Standing Counsel with the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs since October 2017. Ms. Gupta is currently representing the Government of India as a regular apprentice in more than 500 cases related to Indirect Taxes in the Calcutta High Court. She has extensive experience providing strategic advisory and litigation services, including drafting, to clients in all areas of Direct and Indirect Taxes, such as Excise, Customs, Service Tax, Foreign Trade Policy, and Sales Tax/Value Added Tax. Ms. Gupta has also advised and assisted clients on complete tax-related issues, Goods and Service Tax (GST) transition, and implementation.
Her experience includes advising clients on Indirect Tax implications for Special Economic Zone developers, Co-developers, and Units, Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contractors, and Project Owners. She recently argued an extremely important matter regarding provisional attachment to protect revenue in certain cases of Section 83 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.
